First dosimetric audit of the CAT-ClinART project

On February 24, the first external dosimetric audit within the framework of the CAT-ClinART project was carried out at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. This initiative is part of a clinical audit system aimed at harmonizing radiotherapy practices in Catalonia and strengthening the quality and safety of oncological treatments.

The audit was preceded by a one-year preparatory phase during which the methodology was established and the measurement systems were validated. This validation is an essential step to ensure the reliability and consistency of the evaluations across the different participating centers. During this stage, two hospitals independently intercompared their dosimetric systems; specifically, the response under reference conditions of several ionization chambers and two radiochromic film systems (with different scanner models and analysis software) was compared. To do so, films irradiated in an anthropomorphic pelvic phantom were used, reproducing the full planning and verification process of a prostate treatment.

This first audit demonstrates the feasibility and relevance of the proposed methodology.
